Kamrupa, GTC inch closer to title

Guwahati, Aug. 21: Kamrupa Football Club and Gauhati Town Club, who are in contention for promotion to the RG Baruah Super Division League, will leave no stone unturned to make it happen as the Jibeswar Goswami Guwahati Sports Association A Division Football League comes to an end.

Kamrupa have managed to win all their matches so far and lead the tally with 15 points while Gauhati Town Club, with four wins and a draw, stand second with a total of 13 points.

Manager of Kamrupa Football Club, Ranjit Das, said, “We are trying our best to get promoted to the super division league. With two matches remaining and that, too, against Gauhati Town Club, who are in the race, I believe it will be a tough contest. Even a draw against GTC the day after tomorrow gives us a two-point advantage ahead of our last match against City Police.”

On the other hand, Gauhati Town Club coach Durga Chetry was optimistic that his team will be able to make it to the top tier.

“Preparations are on and the match against Kamrupa will be a vital one. We are behind by two points and only a win will ensure a lead of one point for us,” Chetry said.
