Murder cracked in 4hrs

In a show of great promptness, Bokaro police arrested six persons within hours of a murder in the steel city late on Tuesday night.

A 24-year-old shopkeeper, Shiv Ratan Yadav, was stabbed to death at Veera More by four of the six criminals over a drinking dispute around 10.30pm. By midnight police had nabbed all four and recovered the murder weapon, a dagger, and a bloodstained bike used in the escape.

Later, two other aides were held with a 9mm pistol, five cartridges and a sword.

Bokaro SP Jitendra Singh said a friend of the victim, who he had been talking to before being accosted by the gang and who watched the murder from behind a bush, led them to the culprits in Sector XII and Chas township.

“The four key accused have been identified as Mithilesh Yadav, Ajit Anand, Pradip Kumar and Chotu Sharma. They had come on two bikes. Mithilesh stabbed Shiv Ratan several times till he died,” the SP said, adding that the bike found belonged to Ajit.

While the four were nabbed from the city, two more of their booze buddies, Subodh Kumar and Rahul Kumar, was arrested from Chas.
