Jackie Chan’s son arrested

Beijing, Aug. 18: The son of Jackie Chan, the martial arts movie star who has assiduously courted the Chinese government, has reportedly been arrested during a drug bust in Beijing.

Jaycee Chan, 32, also an actor and singer, was arrested over the weekend in the Chinese capital together with his friend, the 23-year-old Taiwanese movie star Kai Ko, according to several Chinese state newspapers, including the Beijing Times.

The police in Beijing have yet to release any details of the case. Representatives of Chan and Ko have declined to comment. A growing list of celebrities have been recently targeted for drugs by the Chinese police.

The news of his son’s arrest will be particularly embarrassing for Jackie Chan, who signed up to be a “Narcotics Control Ambassador” of the Chinese police in June 2009.
