Woman guard molested

A woman guard of an apartment building on Ballygunge Circular Road filed a complaint against a member of the housekeeping staff on Monday, accusing him of molesting her on August 11.

The woman said in the complaint that she went to police a week later because the building owner had threatened her.

She gathered courage when people living in the apartments came to her support, the police said. Charges of sexual harassment, disrobing and criminal intimidation have been slapped on the accused.

Visa fraud

A man was arrested on Monday for providing forged documents for a US visa.

Officers from Shakespeare Sarani police station picked up Ajoy Barua of Narayan Pally in Dum Dum following a complaint by the American Center. Police said Ajoy had applied for a US visa from Sri Lanka three years ago but the documents he submitted this time did not match with the ones he had provided then.

Jewel thieves

A jewellery shop on BB Ganguly Street has lodged an FIR against a group of three men and an equal number of women after 10 gold chains worth over Rs 4 lakh were stolen from the store on Sunday morning.

CCTV cameras caught the women putting chains into their bags every time the salesman turned his back to fetch a chain from the display. The women had entered the shop with three men. Police have images of all of them.
