Eleven held for Rs 1-crore loot

Eleven people were arrested in connection with the May 13 Rs 1-crore loot from a cash van of a security agency at Fatuha.

They were nabbed on Wednesday night.

Patna senior superintendent of police (SSP) Manu Maharaaj on Thursday said: “Visgeet Kumar, one of the arrested persons who is a resident of Didarganj in Patna, was involved in the murder of retired deputy inspector-general-rank officer Anil Kumar Singh. He was shot dead on the Rajendra Nagar-Kurla Superfast Express in June 2006 for resisting a robbery attempt.”¯

Once Visgeet was nabbed, the whereabouts of others were extracted from him. The police were working on the case for a while. After Visgeet blurted out his accomplices’ names, teams were sent to their whereabouts and they were finally caught.

“On May 13, the arrested men had stopped the cash van of SIS Securities at the under-construction four-lane road of Fatuha, around 20km from Patna, and had looted the amount. We recovered Rs 29.5 lakh from their possession,” said the SSP.
