UPA, Brothers in a tie

Imphal, Aug. 12: United Progressive Adults Association held Athletic Brothers Association to a 1-1 goal draw in the Maharajkumar Ghanendrajit Memorial Super Division Football League on artificial turf, Khuman Lampak sports complex, today.

Athletic Brothers Association player K.M. Boycha found the net in the 39th minute after collecting a pass from Palmei Rambo for the lead.

United Progressive’s Th. Modumangol Singh got the equaliser in the 73rd minute off a cross from T. Romio.

In another match, XI Star Sporting Union blanked Progressive Youth Association by 3-0 goals to garner full points. E. Dayananda scored two goals while L. Roshan fetched a goal for the team’s impressive victory.

Thang ta: Y. Nita Devi bagged a gold for EKTA Nongmeibung in the 25th State Thang-Ta Championship, 2014 held at NSA Indoor Stadium, Imphal, today.

In the final match of the 49kg sub-junior girls’ phunaba ama, Nita Devi defeated W. Sonia Devi of MISA Heingang for the gold medal.

In the senior boys’ phunaba ani category, MIKAL Maibakhul claimed two gold medals through A. Ranachandra Singh.

In the 60kg bout, M. Tolen Singh of MIKAL Maibakhul beat S. Mashal Singh of HLTA Yumnam Huidrom for the gold.

In the 52kg bout, N. Nongpoknganba Meitei of HLTA Wangoo beat H. John Singh of MIKAL Maibakhul for the gold. K. Borish Singh of HLTA Yumnam Huidrom defeated S. Samendrajit Singh of KMTS Pangaltabi for the gold medal in the 85kg category of the senior boys’ phunaba ani.
