Minor molested

Itanagar, Aug. 9: A 55-year-old man was arrested yesterday for assaulting a minor at Akash Deep market here on Thursday evening. The accused, who operates a shoe store in the market, lured the victim inside his shop and attempted to sexually assault her. The victim, whose father runs a vegetable shop in the same market, managed to escape and inform her parents.

Fearing that the accused may escape if they sounded an alarm immediately, the girl’s parents waited until morning. Eyewitnesses said that the accused was beaten up before being taken away by the police. Itanagar SP Seju Kuruvilla said a case has been lodged and the accused taken into police custody.
