Sarmali bags U-14 football title

Jamshedpur, Aug. 9: Sarmali defeated Koleibira 1-0 in the final to bag the 3rd Tata Group Company community football title in the Under-14 category here today.

Held at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Karandih to mark the International Day of the Worldís Indigenous People, the summit clash saw forward Mangal Singh Sardar settling the issue in Sarmaliís favour at the 19th minute of the second half of the 30-minute match. He drove home a long ranger, putting the opponent on the back foot.

Later, Sarmaliís defenders prevented all Kolebira attacks to maintain the lead.

In the open category final, Jalandi defeated Jhinkpani 5-4 to bag the title.

Tata Steelís vice-president (corporate services) Sunil Bhaskaran and chief of security department Gopal Prasad Choudhary, along with ex-MLA Sanatan Majhi, handed over the prizes.
