Manipur cops on top

Imphal, Aug. 6: Manipur Police Sports Club claimed the championís title of the menís team event of the 33rd Inter- District Badminton Championship played at MBA indoor hall, D.M. College.

The final match saw Manipur Police defeat Imphal West 3-0. In the first singles, W. James prevailed upon I. Yaitomba Singh by 21-19 and 21-12 points.

Manipur Police also wrested the second singles with L. Momo Singh overcoming H. Punshiba by 21-18 and 23-21 points to dominate 2-0.

In the doubles event, L. Momo and his partner H. Kishan defeated H. Punshiba and H. Yaiphaba of Imphal West by 21-14 and 21-15 points to claim the title.

In the womenís team event, Thoubal defeated Bishnupur 2-0. In the first singles, N. Purnima Devi defeated K. Priya Devi by 21-11 and 21-10 points while in the first doubles, Thoubal pair of N. Purnima and M. Somibala Devi defeated K. Priya and Kh. Roshmi of Bishnupur by 21-6 and 21-10 points.

In the girlsí team event final, Thoubal district defeated Imphal East district by 2-0 games. The boysí team event title was fetched by Imphal West defeating Bishnupur by 2-0 games.

AIFF: The AIFF has notified that Fifa will be conducting a five-day youth coaching course from September 15-19 at Cooperage, Mumbai. State associations/I-League clubs are to name one coach on or before August 14.

Kang trophy

Thaka Thangmeiband defeated Konthoujam Kendra Kangkhut by 35-20 points to move to the final of the 11th Laijing Ningthou Ahallon League-cum-knockout Kang Trophy at Thangmeiband.
