Slur on BDO

Alipurduar, July 29: The leader of Opposition in the Kumargram panchayat samiti today lodged a police complaint accusing the block development officer of misbehaving with him when he went to seek suggestions on a notice on Japanese Encephalitis.

Uttam Das of the Trinamul Congress said the Kumargram BDO’s office was closed today for Id and he went to the official’s residential quarters.

“Two Trinamul leaders were with me. We had prepared a notice, asking villagers to take pigs away from human habitation so that the spread of Japanese Encephalitis could be arrested. We wanted to take BDO Shiladitya Chakroborty’s suggestions on the notice. When we rang the doorbell, the BDO came out. Before we could say anything, he started yelling at us. He asked me why we had gone to his house when it was a holiday,” Das said.

“He said ‘Do you think I don’t have a personal life’ and shut the door. I felt insulted and filed a police complaint,” he added.

He said a copy of the complaint had been sent to Alipurduar district magistrate.

The BDO couldn’t be contacted.
