Dhanbad, July 26: A 34-year-old man has hanged himself from a ceiling fan at his Krishna Nagar residence in Dhaiyya, Dhanbad. Though no suicide note was found, police suspect financial problems might have prompted him to take the extreme step.

Hari Mohan Ram, who worked as a caretaker at an apartment and an LIC agent, was found hanging this morning when his wife Chinta (28) went to wake him up. Apart from wife, he is survived by a six-year-old son, a four-year-old daughter and widow mother.

Family members said Hari, who was the lone bread earner of the family, had been staying aloof since his elder daughter’s death around six months ago. “She was only 10 then and died of some disease. Since then Hari mostly kept to himself,” said a relative.

He added that after eating his dinner around 10.30pm yesterday, Hari told his wife that he was not feeling well and wanted to stay alone in his room.

“We investigating the case. The post-mortem report will clear the cause of death,” said Dhanbad SP Hemant Toppo.
