Help hub for railway staff
- Freight champ Dhanbad station gets employee-friendly

Madhuresh Kumar, the GM of East Central Railway, Hajipur, inaugurated a number of facilities in Dhanbad on Friday, including an employee facilitation centre and a rest house.

Kumar, who reached the coal capital by a special saloon from Hajipur (Bihar), reached the office of the divisional railway manager where he unveiled a plaque to commemorate Dhanbad divisionís freight loading record of 100MT during 2013-14 to become the second highest loading division after Bilaspur.

Kumar, accompanied by divisional railway manager B.B. Singh, senior divisional commercial manager Dayanand, senior divisional personnel officer Manoj Kumar, senior divisional operating manager Ved Prakash, PRO R.K. Singh and others, went on to exhort those present to strive to become the No. 1 division of the country.

He then inaugurated a single-story facilitation centre near the DRM canteen. Meant for Dhanbad division employees, it has seats, wash rooms, a changing room and a large hall. Spread over 216sqm and built at a cost of Rs 33.38 lakh, it will be one-stop convenience hub for staff members of the 116 small and big stations that make up Dhanbad division.

ďA welfare inspector deputed at the centre will note down the problem of each employee. He will forward the applications to relevant departments according to serial number for processing,Ē an official said.

Kumar then moved to the executive guest house of the division to inaugurate a double-storey rest house comprising four AC suites, each with two bedrooms, a pantry and other associated facilities.

At Dhanbad station, he inaugurated a shed and saw a demo run of a steam coal crane brought from England in 1914.
