Bail for 9A cop

The high court on Wednesday granted bail to Noor Ali, a suspended sub-inspector who was arrested in connection with the Short Street incident. The bail has been granted on the grounds that his detention was no longer required.

Mamta Agarwal, who lived and ran a playschool at 9A Short Street, and two guards have been accused of shooting dead two bouncers who were part of a group that had allegedly raided the premises on November 11, 2013, in an attempt to get it vacated.

Ali, who was attached to Shakespeare Sarani police station, was arrested on the charge that he had taken bribe from the conspirators who wanted to get the premises vacated.
