Dunlop dues

July 23: Labour minister Malay Ghatak today asked the Dunlop management to start clearing dues of workers at its Sahaganj plant in Hooghly from August 1.

“I have also fixed a tripartite meeting on August 5 and asked the management to submit a road map on how they propose to clear the dues,” Ghatak said after a meeting that was attended by the Dunlop management and trade unions.

Company officials said one of the plans was to transfer land to the state so it can sell it and settle the labourers’ dues.

Another option was to let the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation grant a loan to Dunlop against the land.
