Accident on Setu

Three men were injured when a bus driver lost control of the vehicle, hit a Matador and knocked down a motorcyclist before ramming into guard rails a few metres ahead of the toll collection booth on Vidyasagar Setu on Thursday afternoon.

Bike rider Sanjoy Mondal, 40, suffered knee and hand injuries. Matador driver Charika Singh, 34, and helper Utpal Das, 62, suffered head and hand injuries. The injured were taken to SSKM Hospital.

The Suri-bound North Bengal State Transport Corporation bus from Calcutta was packed with passengers when the accident occurred. Police are looking for the driver.

“Passengers said the bus was moving at a high speed while descending the bridge slope,” said an officer of Hastings police station.
