Habas is unhappy

Calcutta: Atletico de Kolkata coach Antonio Lopez Habas feels that the Salt Lake Stadium, where the team is likely to play all its home matches in the inaugural Indian Super League (ISL), needs to improve its infrastructure a bit. The stadium’s turf hasn’t been to his liking.

Habas, along with the team’s assistant coaches Miguel Martinez and Jose Ramirez Barreto, and head player recruitment Alberto Marrero did a recce of the venue on Tuesday. Later, Habas said: “I think we do have the necessary infrastructure and facilities at present.

“Now, we need to build on it because the youngsters today require the best of facilities and good guidance to nurture their talent.”

Barreto said that the Atletico officials were pleased with the size of the venue but a little bit concerned with the turf. “Artificial turfs lead to injuries, so that’s why they are a bit worried. But it’s too late to change things now,” he said.
