Kokrajhar, July 4: An under-16 football and tennis camp is being organised under the aegis of the district sports officer, Baksa, with the objective of finding talent and grooming them in the disciplines.

Baksa district sports officer Dasarath Brahma said the 15-day school-level table tennis coaching camp (for boys and girls) will be conducted at Mushalpur Higher Secondary School, Mushalpur, from tomorrow.

He said four students (two boys and two girls) from high and higher secondary schools in the district will attend the table tennis camp.

“Under the Mukhya Mantri Assam Vikas Yojana, 2009-2010, sports items will be distributed among the participants of the table tennis camp at the inaugural function tomorrow,” Brahma said.

“An under-16 football coaching camp got under way at Salbari town field in the district from Thursday and will conclude on July 18,” he said.

He expressed hope that the coaching camps will be beneficial for aspiring sportspersons from the rural and backward areas of the district.
