Murder attempt foiled

Ranchi police arrested three youths from a Reliance Fresh outlet in the heart of the capital in Kotwali thana area on Tuesday thus foiling a murder attempt.

Two firearms and seven rounds of ammunition were also recovered from them.

Those arrested have been identified as Piska More resident Prakash Yadav, Pradeep Kumar Singh of Morabadi and Pandra resident Vikas Singh. All three are the age group of 25 to 30.

Barring Yadav, the other two are wanted in several cases of extortion and attempt to murder registered at Sukhdeonagar and Pandra police stations.

Acting on a tip-off, a team from Kotwali police station rushed to the spot.

Superintendent of police (city), Anoop Birtharay said, “They are all members of one Rajeev Mishra’s gang. The trio were conspiring to kill a member of the rival Sandeep Thapa group.”

More than 10 people have been shot dead in and around the city in the last 10 days and the police were groping in the dark. “Tuesday’s arrests have come as a major confidence booster,” said an officer.
