Cheat held

Bhaskar Samaddar, 35, a former sales executive of a car showroom, was arrested on Monday for allegedly pocketing a part of a customerís down payment for a Scorpio in 2010.

Police said Samaddar had forged the documents of Royal Motors, Tollygunge, to open a bank account to encash one of the down payment cheques.

House burgled

A gang broke into businessman Amritanshu Khaitanís flat in Queens Park, Ballygunge, and fled with two laptops, two iPhones, three iPads, a cordless handset, a gold bangle and Rs 5,300 on Tuesday afternoon, police said.
