Muzaffarpur, July 1: Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University has directed college principals of its constituent institutes not to take admission in excess of seats available in various courses.
Vice-chancellor (VC) Pandit Phalende has taken note of the arbitrary style of functioning of college principals in taking admission in Intermediate courses and three-year degree courses.
Sources said the names of more than 12 principals of constituent colleges in Muzaffarpur, East Champaran, Hajipur and West Champaran had figured, who had allegedly enrolled excess students against the sanctioned seats in the previous year.
According to a directive by the university, excess students enrolled would not be allowed to sit in the examination. “There are 21 affiliated colleges situated in different districts of north Bihar. The examination department, this time, would provide exam forms to colleges only according to number of seats in the subjects concerned,” said students’ welfare officer Vinod Prasad Singh.
VC Phalende said: “The practice of arbitrariness in taking admissions should come to an end.” The university is taking steps to deny registration to students who had been enrolled after the admission date.
