Sporting Union win

Guwahati, June 29: Sporting Union Club annexed the Guwahati Sports Association B-Division Football League title, defeating Narengi Sports Club 3-0 in the final at Nehru Stadium here today.

With this win, Sporting Union Club have ensured their place in the next season of the GSA A Division Football League.

In a completely one-sided affair, Narengi boys failed to keep up with the pace and flare of the Sporting Union Club players.

Riju Rabha provided Sporting Union with an initial lead early in the fifth minute of play while Hiranya Das increased the lead with a fine strike in the 48th minute.

Prahlad Mali scored the third goal for his side in the 55th minute.

Favourite Club faced relegation owing to the side lying at the bottom of the tally with the least points in the GSA B Division and will feature in the C Division League next year.

Mahabahu Sangha edged past Naba Suruj Sports Club 2-1 to qualify for the next season of the GSA B Division Football League.

In the final at the same venue, Akshay Rabha broke the deadlock for Mahabahu Sangha with a goal in the ninth minute of play while Rintu Ali further doubled the lead in the 37th minute.

Tongkho Hou Touthanta found the back of the net for Naba Suruj SC with a goal in the 42nd minute.

Guwahati Metro Club face relegation from the lowest tier of the GSA League system and will play qualification round next year.

Cycling: The Manipur Cycling Association will hold a physical fitness test for cyclists between the age group from 14 to 16 years for boys and girls on July 20 at Cycle Velodrome at Khuman Lampak to absorb in the newly established National Cycling Academy, New Delhi.
