SAI players claim six gold

Imphal, June 29: SAI NERC bagged six gold medals in the 16th State-level Wushu Championship held at Moidangpok in Imphal West yesterday.

SAI came up with a gold in the junior boys’ nandao event through H. Ramananda. H. Ramananda picked up his second gold in the junior boys’ nanquan event. Other gold medal winners of SAI NERC include L. Roshibina Devi in the sub-junior girls 36kg, S. Chanchan Devi in the sub-junior girls’ 40kg, O. Sonia Devi in the sub-junior girls’ 48kg in the shanshou event and Kh. Thongamba in the sub-junior boys’ taiji jain event. Bishnupur players also landed four gold medals with O. Sanikanta beating Bikash Singh of Thoubal in the sub-junior boys’ 28kg shanshou category.

Distribution: The Manipur Badminton Association distributed nets and shuttle corks for free to those clubs/associations having community halls in the state, which can serve as playing arenas to popularise the game. The distribution was the joint effort of Manipur Badminton Association and Yonex Sunrise Naorem Enterprise, Imphal.
