Rape complaint lodged

A woman in her early 20s lodged a complaint with Hastings police station on Wednesday alleging she had been dragged into a taxi at a bus stand on Sunday and raped by four. Later she changed her version, saying only one man had raped her. The accused has been arrested.

“The woman said she was waiting for a bus at Babughat when a no-refusal taxi stopped in front of her and the accused dragged her in. There were three others in the taxi. She was driven around for an hour and raped,” said an officer.

The woman said she had been dropped near the Hastings crossing, which is close to her home. Cops, however, found “discrepancies” in her statement. “The woman changed her version of being gang-raped after footage of a CCTV camera installed at a traffic signal was shown to her. The footage showed the woman walking with the accused along DL Khan Road on Sunday evening. She later said the accused had raped her with the false promise of marriage,” said a police officer.
