Iran lodge complaint

Tehran: The Iran Football Federation (IFF) has lodged an official complaint with FIFA against Serbian referee Milorad Mazic, citing “poor officiating” during Iran’s Group F game versus Argentina on Saturday, reports EFE.

In the 54th minute of the match, Argentina defender Pablo Zabaleta tripped Iran striker Ashkan Dejagah inside the box, but Mazic denied the Iranians a penalty.

“I don’t understand itů He (Mazic) must have seen it was a penalty,” coach Carlos Queiroz was quoted as saying.

“He was five metres away, there is no way he couldn’t have seen it. I have the right to say this and I only hope I am not punished now for telling the truth.” (AGENCIES)
