College unions clash

Siliguri, June 16: Two SFI supporters were injured after alleged Trinamul Chattra Parishad supporters attacked them at Surya Sen College here today.

“Our supporters were sitting at a camp set up on the college premises to assist students in getting forms. Suddenly, a group of Trinamul Chattra Parishad supporters came and attacked them without any provocation. Two of our supporters were injured in the attack,” said Saurav Sarkar, the Darjeeling district president of SFI.

“While one is admitted to the Siliguri district hospital, the other was released after first-aid,” Sarkar said.

Trinamul Chattra Parishad supporters have denied the allegation. “The SFI is making up stories to gain sympathy and support of students who will join the college this year,” said Arko Pal, the unit in-charge of Trinamul Chattra Parishad in Surya Sen College.
