Jayaraman given post

Calcutta, June 12: Former Siliguri police commissioner K. Jayaraman was today made the deputy inspector-general (modernisation), more than 200 days after he was put on compulsory waiting for arresting then Malda district magistrate Godala Kiran Kumar.

Jayaraman had been removed as Siliguri commissioner on December 1, a day after he arrested Kiran Kumar for alleged funds misappropriation when the IAS officer was the CEO of the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri Development Authority.

The government today also transferred 53 IPS officers.

Dilip Adak, the deputy commissioner of police (traffic), has been made the DIG (operations) of the CID. The post had been lying vacant for more than a year.

In his new assignment, Adak will have to deal with terrorist and Maoist activities and cyber crimes.
