175 Bn team triumph

Borjhar, June 10: The 175 Battalion of Central Reserved Police Force (CRPF) emerged champions in the CRPF inter-battalion/group swimming and cross-country championship held in Guwahati from June 6 to 8.

While the swimming competition was held at Nehru Stadium, Guwahati, the cross-country competition was held at the Rani-based 175 Bn headquarters premises.

The 175 Bn CRPF won in both individual and team events. Altogether 17 teams from administration battalions and group centers of the Northeast sector participated in the event. The 128 Bn secured second position in the meet. Commandant of 175 Bn I. Lokendra Singh conferred the prizes on the winners and runners-up.

Trainer: Former Assam Ranji player-turned-strength and conditioning trainer Nishanta Bordoloi has been employed for the physical conditioning of Gautam Gambhir. Gambhir has recently made his comeback to the national side for the tour to England later in June. Bordoloi left for New Delhi on today and will also assist Virender Sehwag. He is also the trainer of the Delhi Ranji team.

Adventure camp: Adventure sports organisation Explores will organise a summer adventure camp from July 4 to 6 in association with Assam Tourism Development Corporation. The participants will be imparted training on canoeing, kayaking, parasailing, surfing, trekking and white-water rafting in and around Guwahati.
