Football camp begins

Hailakandi, June 4: A 15-day under-19 residential football coaching camp of the Silchar District Sports Association, organised in association with the Ramanuj Gupta Memorial Trust, got under way at Satindra Mohan Dev stadium yesterday.

A total of 127 players from different parts of Cachar and Karimganj districts are taking part.

Of them, 65 are from urban areas while 62 are from areas such as Dalu, Kalain, Katigorah, Bhaga, Narshingpur, Dhalai, Rajabazar, Harinagar, Udharbond, Srikona and Badarpur.

Devachandra Singha of Manipur is training the footballers. Silchar DSA’s football secretary Ashit Dhar is the in-charge of the camp.


The Assam Badminton Association has rescheduled the dates of two state-ranking tournaments in Guwahati. The first All Assam Ranking Badminton tournament will be held at Kanaklata indoor stadium from July 1 to 4 while the second All Assam Ranking Badminton tournament will be held at Don Bosco School from July 6 to 9.
