Taylor makes a comeback

Calcutta: Fit-again West Indies pacers Jerome Taylor and Kemar Roach were included in the 13-member squad for the first Test, against New Zealand, starting June 8.

Sunil Narine, expectedly, didn’t find a place in the squad. Narine’s decision to play for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL VII final instead of joining the preparatory camp upset the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).

However, with the WICB announcing the squad for just the first Test, it will be interesting to see if the Board reconsiders its stance.

Meanwhile, Barbados will host the third Test between West Indies and New Zealand after it was moved from Guyana.

The squad: Denesh Ramdin (captain), Sulieman Benn, Kraigg Brathwaite, Darren Bravo, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Kirk Edwards, Shannon Gabriel, Chris Gayle, Kieran Powell, Kemar Roach, Marlon Samuels, Shane Shillingford, Jerome Taylor
