Advent, Noonmati triumph

Guwahati, June 3: Advent Academy English School and Noonmati Public School clinched victories in their respective last league matches of the 10th Dhan Sena Sinha All- Assam Inter-School Prize- Money Cricket Tournament at Latasil playground here today.

Advent Academy English School inflicted an 11-run defeat on Student Faculty High School in the first match of the day. Electing to bat, Advent batsmen managed 76 runs before being all out in 13.4 overs. U. Bikramjit Singha remained not out on 22 runs.

Joydeep Nandi picked up three wickets conceding 14 runs in three overs.

In reply, Student Faculty High School managed 65 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their stipulated 15 overs. Abhijit Sonowal topscored for his side with 26 runs off 38 balls including one hit to the fence and one over the ropes, while Khanij Jyoti Das chipped in with 17 runs off 23 deliveries. Indrajit Choudhury picked up two wickets conceding 11 runs in his quota of overs while Ujala Basfor and Roshan Chetri bagged one wicket each.

In the second match of the day, Noonmati Public School registered a convincing 53-run victory over Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Bhangagarh.

Put in to bat, Noonmati put up a total of 108 runs for the loss of six wickets. Navanil Sarma topscored for his side with an unbeaten 52 runs off 44 balls studded with eight hits to the fence and one over the ropes, while Devraj Sarma chipped in with 15 runs off 30 deliveries. Onji Kumar picked up two wickets for 12 runs while Sonu Yadav and Bishal Roy took one wicket each.

In reply, Maharishi Vidya Mandir batsmen could only manage 55 runs before being bundled out in 13.1 overs. Onji Kumar scored 16 runs off 25 balls while Nabarun Mukherjee contributed 12 runs off 15 deliveries. Atish Basfor, Kundan Rai and Irfan Ahmed picked up two wickets each.
