Nazira, Bongaigaon win

Guwahati, June 1: Nazira Cricket Academy and Bongaigaon Cricket Coaching Centre registered convincing victories in their respective matches of the Dilip Sarmah Under-14 Inter District Cricket Coaching Centre Championship here today.

Nazira Cricket Academy inflicted an eight-wicket defeat on Barpeta Cricket Academy at the Northeast Frontier Railway Sports Association Stadium.

Electing to bat, Barpeta batsmen could only manage 64 runs before being all out in 29.1 overs.

Jisukesh Das, with an unbeaten 33 runs off 59 balls, was the lone notable contributor for his side. Deepjyoti Singh picked up two wickets, conceding 24 runs in his allotted eight overs, while Gauranga Kishor Gogoi scalped two wickets going for 10 runs in 4.1 overs. Duranta Darshan Daimari and Abhishek Debnath took a wicket each.

In reply, Nazira boys got past the target, losing two wickets in 27.2 overs. Gauranga Kishor Gogoi remained not out with 26 runs off 48 balls while Duranta Darshan Daimari chipped in with 18 runs off 65 deliveries. Pritam Saikia and Jisukesh Das picked up a wicket each.

In the other match at Nehru Stadium, Bongaigaon Cricket Coaching Centre thrashed Silchar District Sports Association Cricket Academy by 86 runs.

Opting to bat, Bongaigaon boys put up 177 runs before being all out in 38.2 overs.

Saurav Dev scored 28 runs off 32 balls while Vivek Samsukha contributed 20 runs off 32 deliveries.

Anowar Hussain chipped in with 18 runs off 19 balls.

Sudarshan Sinha picked up three wickets going for 29 runs in his allotted overs, while Biki Roy and Bishal Rudra Paul scalped two wickets each. Amartya Das and Saumyadeep Mazumder took a wicket each.

Chasing a stiff total, Silchar batsmen managed 91 runs before being all out in 27.3 overs. Mrinal Kanti Nath topscored for his side with 38 runs off 65 deliveries.

Subhodeep Chakraborty picked up three wickets going for 16 runs in 7.3 overs while Birkhungwra Brahma scalped two wickets giving away 15 runs in five overs. Siba Prasad took a wicket, conceding 20 runs in seven overs.

Mangaldoi Cricket Academy will play Bud Cricket Coaching Centre, Guwahati, at the NFRSA Stadium tomorrow while in the other match at Nehru Stadium, Jorhat Cricket Coaching Centre will face Bilasipara Cricket Academy.

Earlier yesterday, Nazira Cricket Academy outplayed Dhemaji Coaching Centre by 68 runs at the NFRSA Stadium.
