Takeaways from Modi’s debut in Central Hall

The years 2015 and 2016 are very important in our lives because of Deen Dayal Upadhyayaji’s birth centenary (Upadhayaya was an RSS pracharak and a founder of the BJP’s predecessor Jana Sangh). ‘Charaiveti, charaiveti (oh, traveller, march along)’ — that was his mantra (it is a hymn sung at RSS camps). He lived by this mantra. Our government and party should dedicate 2015-16 to Daridra Narayana (the service of the poor) and Antyodaya (serving the last person in the queue)

The Modi who is standing here, before you, is not big because he is Modi. He is here because the senior leaders have carried Modi on their shoulders. Our victory is the outcome of the parishram (hard work) of five preceding generations. The generations who belonged to the Jana Sangh.... Theirs was a life of penance, a life dedicated to upholding nationalist ideals. I pay homage to them because we are here today because of their tapasya (penance)

I clearly believe that a government should think, listen and live for the poor. Therefore, the new government is dedicated to the poor, to every youth, to the respect and honour of our mothers, daughters and sisters, to the villager, Dalits, the oppressed and the farmers

Baap re, I am truly grateful to her because she worked extraordinarily hard (during the elections)
