‘Next two matches crucial’

Bhubaneswar: “The next two matches are crucial. If we win both (against the Mumbai Indians and the Sunrisers Hyderabad), then we should be well placed for the play-offs...”

That was Shakib-al Hasan, a former captain of Bangladesh and a key member of the Kolkata Knight Riders’ line-up when conditions promise to assist spinners.

Speaking to The Telegraph at the Mayfair Lagoon, on Tuesday afternoon, Shakib added: “Having won the last two matches, we’ve got the momentum and just have to make the most of this run...

“It’s not that I’m sticking my neck out, but I do believe that we have the team to regain the IPL. Aami confident. From now, it’s about playing the big moments well.”

Shakib, incidentally, was in the XI when the Knights won the fifth edition, in 2012.
