If there is something that is soothing to the eyes and comfortable to wear in summer are chiffon saris. The celebrities love their chiffons, irrespective of the season. If you are not that comfortable in saris, chiffon tops can be your alternatives.
Roshan Kumar, the store manager of a shop in P&M Mall, says: “The demand for chiffon saris and tops is always high. Chiffon see-through tops are favourites among the girls this summer.”
The girls love to wear these tops over vests. The tops, available mostly in black and white, generally cost between Rs 299 and Rs 2,499.
Polka dotted tops and floral printed shirts are also hot picks this season. “Polka dotted tops never go out of fashion and it’s a wardrobe-must for girls in summer. The collection of polka dotted tops this summer are different from the earlier ones. Earlier, the tops used to be designed with polka dots on both sides. This year, only the back of the tops are designed with polka dots,” said Kumar.
While polka dotted tops are available between Rs 1,499 and Rs 1,699, the floral prints shirts range between Rs 1,299 and Rs 2,499.
For those who are are tired of single-coloured leggings, they can choose from the ones in floral and animal prints.

“The floral printed leggings give a funky look and are priced between Rs 640 and Rs 799. Light-coloured jeans such as peach and yellow, are also in trend,” said Indrajeet Jha, the store manager of a shop, P&M Mall.
Agraja Kashyap, 19, who recently invested in a peach coloured jeans, was happy with her new buy. “Till now, I only had jeans in black, white and blue. For a long time I wanted to have colourful outfits in my wardrobe. I am really happy with my purchase.”
Like women, men also prefer light coloured clothes in summer. “Shirts and T-shirts in white, pink, blue are flying off the racks. These are available between Rs 1,500 and Rs 3,500,” said Arvind Kumar, the owner of a garment shop on Boring Road.
Apart from shirts, bandis (better known as Nehru jackets) are also among the hot picks. “We have bandis in royal blue and black, which can go well with half shirts and kurtis,” Arvind said.
Umbrella makers are happy as the sales of their products have gone up with the increase in temperature.
“This year we have introduced umbrellas with zari work. These are priced at Rs 250. Silk umbrellas, priced at Rs 200, are also popular,” said Uday Kumar, owner of a shop at Kadamkuan.
