Priyana triumphs

Guwahati, May 12: Assam girl Priyana Kalita annexed double crown in the AITA Championship Series under-18 tennis tournament at the All Assam Tennis Association Complex here today.

Priyana defeated Bengal girl Yuvrani Banerjee 6-2, 4-6, 10-8 for the singles crown and teamed up with Yuvrani to defeat Assam opponents Annie Thaosen and Eva Raj Shah 6-0, 6-1 for the doubles honours.

In the boys’ singles, Ishaque Iqbal of Bengal defeated Tamil Nadu boy Elan Elangovan 6-4, 6-2 for the title.

Assam’s Ankeet Kashyap and Raunak Bora clinched the boys’ doubles honours defeating Ishaque Iqbal and Sikkim boy Sidarth Basnet 7-6(3), 6-7(1), 10-8 in the final.
