Nalbari pip Morigaon

Guwahati, May 11: Nalbari rode Nihar Deka’s heroics to keep their title dreams alive by qualifying for the quarter-finals of the 2nd Umananda Bora Under-13 Inter District Cricket Tournament, defeating Morigaon by two wickets at Barsapara Cricket Stadium here today.

Electing to bat, Morigaon scored 132 runs for six wickets in the stipulated 40 overs. Debasish Bora topscored for his side with an unbeaten 36 runs off 47 balls while Swayan Pratik Saikia remained not out with 15 runs off 38 deliveries. Tushar Dutta picked up three wickets going for 12 runs in eight overs while Girban Deka scalped two for 23 runs in eight overs.

In reply, Nalbari rode Nihar Deka’s unbeaten knock of 91 runs off 116 balls to edge past the target losing eight wickets in 35.3 overs. Saurabh Roy Karmakar, Azizur Rahman and Debasish Bora picked up two wickets each.
