KV Maligaon, Sonapur win

Guwahati, May 11: Kendriya Vidyalaya, Maligaon, and Sonapur Chamata Higher Secondary School registered wins on the inaugural day of the 10th Dhan Sena Sinha All-Assam Inter-school Prize-money Cricket Tournament at the Latasil playground here today.

In the first match of the day, Kendriya Vidyalaya boys got the better of Pasoria High School by seven wickets.

Electing to bat, Pasoria boys managed 94 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Ranjit Das and Sampak Kalita scored 13 runs. Ripan Paul was the wrecker-in-chief with five wickets for 19 runs in his allotted four overs while Hira Chetri scalped two for 12 runs.

Chasing a modest total, Kendriya Vidyalaya eased past the target losing three wickets in 12.2 overs. Amit Yadav topscored with 30 runs off 26 balls. Sampak Kalita picked up two wickets, conceding 15 runs in 3.2 overs.

In the second match of the day, Sonapur Chamata Higher Secondary School didnít face much of a difficulty in getting the better of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Noonmati, as they eased past the latter by five wickets. Put in to bat, the Kendriya Vidyalaya boys were all out for 79 runs in 17.4 overs. Aditya Kumar picked three wickets conceding 10 runs.

In reply, the Sonapur boys got past the target losing five wickets in 13.5 overs. Anowar Hussain topscored with 31 runs off 17 balls.

Oak Land High School will play Bright Future English School in the first match while Kahilipara Higher Secondary School will face LOG Hindi High School in the other match tomorrow.
