Blue Star Limited, known for cooling solutions to corporate/commercial segments for seven decades, launched a range of energy efficient inverter split air-conditioners for homes. On May 7, B. Thiagarajan, Blue Star’s executive director and president (air-conditioning and refrigeration products), said in Ranchi: “The new range comprises 16 models in three and five star variants and is energy efficient.” He added that though the company forayed into the residential segment three years ago, it contributed to over half the company’s total AC sales. In 2013-14, Blue Star room ACs recorded 13 per cent growth compared to the industry average of 8 per cent. In Jharkhand, the company sold some 2,500 units last year but expected to sell over 4,000 units this summer, Thiagarajan added

Rural capital

National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) released Rs 80,067 crore to regional, rural and cooperative banks of India during 2013-14 to enable them sanction farm loans at a yearly 7 per cent interest. K.C. Panda, chief general manager at Nabard’s Ranchi office, added that it also released Rs 21,482 crore to the country's banking sector to improve capital formation in agriculture. Nabard disbursed Rs 5,000 crore funds from Union finance ministry to help create warehouse space and committed Rs 17,353 crore to state governments for rural infrastructure

Roaming offer

Telecom operator Idea Cellular will resume 3G services through inter-circle roaming (ICR) to enable users roam seamlessly across India. The facility will be available to Idea users across 10 circles, including Jharkhand. Prepaid and postpaid Idea customers in these circles can avail the facility by recharging any existing 3G packs between Rs 7 and Rs 1,499

Switch on to conservation

Tata Power’s nationwide resource and energy conservation movement Club Enerji, set up in 2007, especially in schools, and currently active in 11 cities in India, including Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta, Pune, Ranchi and Jamshedpur, recently achieved the milestone of saving 11.2 million units of electricity and sensitising over seven million people. In 2013-14 alone, Club Enerji saved over 2.5 million units and sensitised over 1.5 million, said Tata Power MD Anil Sardana
