Honour for help

It was a day of thank yous at Apeejay School, Park Street, as we observed Labour Day by paying tribute to the didis, bhaiyyas and uncles who toil to take care of us everyday.

They clean the classes after we leave, keep the school safe, maintain the garden, run the canteen and help the youngest of us. They are our very own Marydi, Kanhaia uncle, Ratanda, Shubhankarda and others.

A documentary by Abhilash Bannerjee that was screened on the occasion showcased our feelings for the support staff.

The highlight of the programme was a song by Shubhankarda.

Aparna Ma’am shared with us an anecdote from her childhood about how a guard in her school had saved kids from suspension.

The programme ended with a vote of thanks from the vice-principal before it was time for a feast. We also gifted handmade cards to the staff.
