Amlan wins top title

Guwahati, May 4: Amlan Mahanta of Kendriya Vidyalaya, IOC, lifted the trophy of the 26th P C Borooah Fide-Rating Children’s Chess, scoring seven points from eight rounds at Shilpgram here today.

In the last round, Amlan drew his game against Chandan Thapa of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Tinsukia.

Tridev Buragohain also scored seven points but got the second position on the basis of tiebreak scores.

In the last round game, Tridev drew his game against Bidisha Sharma of Maharishi Vidya Mandir.

Nitish Das of Faculty School claimed the third position scoring 6.5 points.

Chandan Thapa of Tinsukia also scored 6.5 points but was declared fourth.

Uddipta Kakati of Delhi Public School, Abhilekh Mahanta of Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Kaustuv Lahiri of Don Bosco Sr. Secondary School, Divyanga Spondon Baruah of Delhi Public School Duliajan, Bidisha Sarma of Maharishi Vidya Mandir Public School, Rajgarh tallied six points each to finish fifth to ninth positions respectively.

Sayantan Das of Bengal was placed in the tenth position.
