Revenge motive behind murders

The “revenge killing” of two persons within 12 hours rocked this south Bihar town on Sunday.

One Lalan Singh (58) of Dubhal was gunned down in neighbouring Gopi Bigha village on Sunday morning. Raushan Kumar (14), grandson of Lalan, was lifted and beaten up by some people of Gopi Bigha when he was going for tuition around 7am.

On getting information, Lalan went to Gopi Bigha with some co-villagers to get his grandson released by making a compromise. However, some strongmen of Gopi Bigha, in a fit of anger, fired at Lalan, killing him on the spot.

When police arrived in Gopi Bigha, angry villagers attacked the jeep and toppled it. Relatives of Lalan and other villagers of Dubhal blocked the Gaya-Dobhi Road near DAV Public School, Cantonment Area branch, with the body.

Gaya senior superintendent of police Nishant Kumar Tiwary said the blockade had been lifted and the body was sent for post-mortem. However, the police are yet to take any action as no formal FIR has been filed till late on Sunday evening.

In another incident, around eight unidentified criminals gunned down one Rishi Manjhi of the Delha locality. The youths first beat up the youth who tried to run for safety. However, no one came forward to rescue the youth.

Rishi had got married on March 6 this year. Police are trying to ascertain the reason behind the murder of Rishi.
