Honour killing whiff in murder

Patna, May 3: Investigations have indicated that the father of a girl whom Vivekanand Kumar (23), alias Bittu, had been stalking shot him near SK Puri Park on Thursday.

The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Patna, final-year computer science student, who succumbed to his injuries, on Friday was about to join a reputed firm shortly.

Patna senior superintendent of police (SSP) Manu Maharaaj told The Telegraph: “Pramod Kumar, posted as an MLA’s bodyguard, has been arrested. Vivekanand had developed a liking for his daughter and had been stalking her for almost a fortnight. The girl complained to her father.

On Thursday evening, the girl was passing by SK Puri Park and Vivekanand was following her on his bike along with a friend. The girl’s father caught up with Vivekanand on a cycle and shot him in the head with his service revolver. We nabbed him and sent the weapon to the forensic science laboratory.”

On April 30, one Mahendra Prasad, father of another girl, and his accomplices, murdered 21-year-old Saurabh Kumar, a student and resident of Katihar, who went missing on April 24. Saurabh’s body was recovered from Dhanarua area on the outskirts of Patna.

Probe revealed that Saurabh was into a relationship with the daughter of Mahendra, a resident of Sonmai village.
