Revenge whiff in woman murder

A 60-year-old woman was murdered at her residence on Tuesday after a group of men raided her house in what the police termed a revenge attack.

The deceased, Ram Pati Devi, was asleep with some of her family members on the roof of her single-storeyed house when around eight men carried out the attack. The cops claimed that while one of the attackers has been nabbed, the rest were absconding.

“The incident occurred around 12.20am at Chotki Ranipur village. The attack was planned and the men, whose homes are in the same neighbourhood, arrived with firearms and sharp-edged weapons. Four relatives of the deceased were shot at and they have been admitted to hospital. Ram Pati tried to flee but she was caught and her throat slit. The injured have been identified as Subhaah Paswan, Uday Paswan, Kiran Devi and Gaurav Kumar,” an officer of Fatuha police station said.

“The roofs of the houses are very close. The attackers assembled at the residence of one Ganga Paswan in the evening and waited until late night. Once Ram Pati’s family fell asleep, they crossed over the roofs and launched the attack. One Mahendra Chaudhary has been nabbed. His name figures in the FIR,” the officer said.

“In February, Ganga’s two grandsons had drowned in the nearby Punpun. Ganga had blamed Ram Pati and her family for the tragedy. He alleged that Ram Pati had pushed the two kids into the river. Since then, Ganga and his relatives had been planning to attack her family,” the officer said.
