Threat charge on RJD chief

Kishanganj, April 19: The district administration today took strong exception to RJD chief Lalu Prasad for allegedly threatening the officer in-charge of a police station for seizure of campaign vehicle of Congress candidate Asrarul Haque, reports PTI.

The administration is also seeking direction of the Election Commission to register a case against Lalu.

Superintendent of police Manoj Kumar said the RJD president, while addressing an election meeting at Thakurganj on Saturday, used threatening words for the officer in-charge of Thakurganj police station for seizure of campaign vehicle of Congress candidate Asrarul Haque on Friday night.

The district administration would also send a video of the meeting to the Election Commission.

Based on instructions of the EC, an FIR can be lodged against the RJD chief, the officer said.

He said the district administration has learnt about similar threatening words used by the RJD chief against the officer in charge while boarding a helicopter after completion of the meeting.

Repoll order

The Election Commission today ordered repolling at 25 polling stations in two of the seven parliamentary constituencies which voted on April 17.

Additional chief electoral officer R Lakshmanan said: “Repolling would take place in 12 polling stations of Munger Lok Sabha constituency and in 13 of Aurangabad constituency. The date would be announced later.”

Sources said there would be no re-election where people voluntarily boycotted voting.

“Among the polling stations where repoll will be held, four are located in Jamalpur, where we could not send our personnel because of security reasons. Scuffle was reported at four polling stations, while EVM was broken at one. The rest are such where replacement of faulty EVMs took much time and hampered voting,” Lakshmanan told the media.
