Attacker edge past Rhino, enter semis

Imphal, April 10: Biren Attacker got the better of Bobby Rhino by 2-1 sets to inch closer for a semi-final berth in the menís team event of the first Manipur Tennis League, 2014 played at IDTA Tennis Complex at Lamphelpat.

In the first singles, N. Premjit, representing Attacker, beat Th. Ribaskar of Rhino 6-1, 6-2 and went on to win the second singles with Ksh. Amarjit beating Kh.Bona of Rhino 2-6, 6-4, 10-7. However, in the doubles event, Th. Ribaskar and Kh. Bona of Bobby Rhino got the better of Attacker pair N. Premjit and Rk. Pritam by 6-4, 4-6, 10-5 sets.

Bobby Rhino bounced back strongly in another match, beating Manipur Legend by 3-0 sets. Th. Ribaskar of Rhino beat N. Kangjamba of Manipur Legend 6-0, 6-1. In the second singles, Kh. Bona beat Tule Thongam of Manipur Legend 6-3, 6-2 to dominate the proceedings 2-0.

Bobby Rhino went on to claim the doubles event as well with Ribhaskar and Kh. Bona registering a comprehensive win against Tule and N. Kangjamba of Manipur Legend by 6-0 and 6-0 sets.

As for the veteranís team, Warrior will meet Biren Attacker in the final tomorrow. In the semi-final matches, Warrior posted KK Challenger by 2-1 sets while Biren Attacker beat LB Aces by 2-1 sets en route to the final.
