Sport facility launched

Hailakandi, April 9: Udharbond Table Tennis Club of Cachar district has launched an indoor sports development project on Sunday at its newly built indoor sports complex.

Pranabananda Das, a member of the club, said the main objective of the project was to scout for talented players both in table tennis and badminton. He said this was a joint venture of the club and nine schools in the locality.

On the first day, 90 school-going boys and girls had enlisted themselves and the target was to train 125 of them in the next three months.

On completion of three months’ training, some players will be shortlisted for further training under national-level trainers in table tennis and badminton. The training is free and starts everyday at 4.30pm in two batches.
