A baby step to good health

- Ranchi docs host unique nutrition & immunisation show

Twinkling eyes, chubby cheeks and innocent smiles won hearts, as well as prizes, during Ranchi Chikitsak Sangh’s annual baby show at KC Roy Memorial Charitable Hospital on Sunday.

A part of the credit goes to super mommies too. For, they were the ones who answered several questions on health and parenting to add points to their child’s scorecards.

A set of 19 questions like at what age a child is administered Hepatitis B vaccine or against which disease does the BCG vaccine give protection were thrown at 80 mothers who vied for the best mom crown.

Ivy Nirmala Ind was declared the best mother for answering all 19 question correctly.

The baby show was divided into two categories — low income group and high income group. Participants of each category were further divided into three age groups — 0 to six months, six to 12 months and one to three years.

While the mothers sat and wrote their answer papers, the children went into four different cubicles where doctors checked them for diet and nutrition, skin, immunisation and overall health, and gave them scores.

In the LIG category, Babu, Mohit Prince Raj and Zinat Parveen were declared winners in the three age categories, respectively. In the HIG contest, Arav, Ayan and Ganeev Girdhar emerged toppers. However, all children took home gift hampers.

Dr Sanjeev Mitra, secretary of the doctors’ outfit, said the show was a baby step to improve child health.
