Vacancy list for varsity teachers

The education department has asked the universities to submit a fresh list of vacancies for teachers so that recruitment could be completed by the end of July.

A meeting, headed by special secretary, education, H.R. Srinivasa, was convened on Thursday in which registrars of all the state universities were present.

Srinivasa said the new list of actual vacancies has been sought. Sources said the recruitment drive, based on the vacancies, is likely to start around the beginning of the next academic session in mid-July.

The sources added that initially, recruitment of only assistant professors would be carried out. The posts of associate professors and professors would be filled later.

Last year, after the education department and the universities conducted the rationalisation process, officials had zeroed in on a list of vacancies. Based on that, there are 165 vacancies for assistant professor at Patna University and around 810 assistant teachers in Magadh University among others. The new list is expected to be slightly different.

The department would submit the list it receives to Bihar Public Service Commission following which the recruitment process would start.
