Mishra focus on “positive campaign”

Balurghat, April 2: Omprakash Mishra, the Congress candidate for the Balurghat Lok Sabha seat, today said he would conduct a positive campaign that aims at development.

Mishra, who filed his nomination with the district magistrate around 12.10pm today, said: “I am not in favour of maligning my opponents. I truly want development and, therefore, appeal to the people to cast their votes in the interest of the district.”

While Mishra was walking towards the district magistrate’s office here to file his nomination, Mishra stood up on a chair on the road and promised the Congress workers who were marching with him that if he won, he would help in the development of Balurghat.

When asked about the outsider tag which Trinamul Congress candidate Arpita Ghosh has been given, he said: “I don’t want to comment on this. She is a resident of this state and the country and has the freedom to fight the electoral battle from anywhere. I want to be positive and have told my colleagues not to malign our opponents openly. It is beyond my ethics,” Mishra said.

During the filing of nominations, Mishra and RSP candidate Bimalendu Sarkar wished each other luck.
