Water for voters

Imphal, April 2: For the first time the state election authorities will provide bottled drinking water to voters in each of the 2,662 poling stations and two lamps each will be installed at all the stations for use during power cuts, chief electoral officer O. Nabakishore said today.


Dhubri: The president of the All India Congress Minority Cell, Firdowz Alam Ansar, campaigned in favour of Dhubri Congress candidate Wazed Ali Choudhury in the Golokganj area of the district and held a meeting at Rajiv Bhawan on Wednesday.


Dhubri: Dhubri Zila Bikalanga Unnayan Suraksha Committee in a memorandum submitted to deputy commissioner Kumud Chandra Kalita on Wednesday alleged that despite model code of conduct in force since day of announcement of elections, officials of Agomoni development block have been conducting the interview for the selection of beneficiaries under Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme.


Jorhat: Nikita, the daughter of AAP Kaliabor candidate, Jinty Gogoi, who studies at a private school in Titabor in Jorhat district, claimed that she and her mother were threatened by two masked men on a motorcycle. Police have registered a case on the basis of a complaint by the daughter.
